New album ‘Homing Instinct’ out now
on Bandcamp and streaming services
On his full-length debut, Edward Randell paints a picture of home and a map of how to get back there. Blending the mellowness of 1970s troubadour classics with surprising flourishes of theatricality, the album sounds like James Taylor and Rufus Wainwright sharing a pot of English Breakfast.
After a decade spent touring the globe with Grammy-winning vocal group The Swingles, and two solo EP releases that garnered attention from BBC 6 Music and Radio Devon, Homing Instinct finds the London singer-songwriter coming to terms with domesticity.
Throughout the 12 songs, Edward and co-producer Chris Hyson (Snowpoet, Jordan Rakei) weave a constantly surprising sonic tapestry: a flourish of harp here, a swell of horns there, sunbursts of vocal harmony, all grounded in Edward’s unique lyrical perspective and warm blanket of a voice.
